Sonix.exe_past is an attempt to make the popular creepypasta playable for everyone. In the original story, Sonic.exe is an eldritch entity that has taken over the retro game, taking the form of the popular blue hedgehog. In this game, however, Sonic is all bloodied and sports glowing red eyes. He gradually makes his appearance over the course of the game.
The game follows the standard Sonic platformer, having you run through different stages. It even has simple controls for left and right running. One major difference is that in this game, you play as different characters from the franchise instead of only Sonic. You get to try Tails, Knuckles the Echidna, and even play Doctor Robotnik on one level. However, the game immediately glitches and the meta-horror slowly unfolds.
If you’ve read the original internet story, then you will find the game underperforming. Most of the text in the game is in Russian and Japanese, which leaves certain parts of the premise unintelligible for speakers of other languages. Additionally, the entire game runs for less than 10 minutes. It even has no replayability value since the glitches and the final scare have no variations whatsoever.
